Esther Kaufmann studied psychology at the University of Zurich and completed her doctorate supervised by Prof. W. W. Wittmann at the University of Mannheim. This was followed by research and teaching activities at various universities (Zurich, Konstanz) and a research stay (supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation) with Prof. David V. Budescu, Fordham University, New York City, USA. Since fall 2020 she is part of the iScience group. In spring 2022, she successfully passed the habilitation exam at the University of Zurich. In the winter semester 2024/25 she is an interim Professor at the University of Leipzig, Wilhelm Wundt Institute for Psychology, Psychological Methodology.
Her research interests are:
- Methods of evaluation research (e.g.: Meta-analyses, modeling and measurement of competencies, test development and test evaluation)
- Methods of Internet-based research
- Decision research (e.g.: teachers’ judgment accuracy, AI acceptance)
- Research methods within educational sciences
