Prof. Dr. David Kenn from the University of Connecticut is at the Universität Konstanz (virtually!) on Wednesday (24 June 2020) – you are cordially invited to listen and discuss “Mediation: Then and Now”.
First discussed is the early work by Wright, Fisher, and Hyman on mediation. Next discussed is the four-step approach that dominated research in the 80s and early 90s. In the 90s, the focus was on the indirect effect. More recently, the Causal Inference approach to mediation has been developed by Pearl and others. Finally, discussed is my own recent work on mediation that includes low power of the test of the direct and total effects and possibility of biasing factors offsetting each other.
